The MASHA Foundation is an initiative that aims to advance the lives of people of color and improve our communities through advocacy, emergency aid, personal development and general support.
The Masha Foundation is currently supported by private donations and in-part by revenue from The Masha Company.
Each month a portion of store proceeds is contributed to an organization or individual in need of assistance whether its advancing the mission of a local nonprofit or assisting an individual belonging to a marginalized community who needs help with bills, clothing or food.
Initially, Masha was founded as a thrift store with the aim of making clothes shopping more accessible and sustainable. Eventually we transitioned that store to handmade accessories in order to increase the revenue we needed to make more impact in these communities. We want our customers to know that with each purchase not only are they buying an item that they’ll be able to love but they’re also contributing to making a difference for someone who desperately needs it.
Here's a look at the impact you helped The Masha Foundation create in 2020:
September 2020 - Elliot's Road to Recovery - Donation
On August 20th Justin Elliot Serrano survived a near-drowning accident. He was then airlifted to the Nicklaus Children's Hospital and is currently recovering in their Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). To aid him on this journey to recovery, his family set a goal of raising $25,000 to assist with the costs of medical air transportation, insurance co-payments, and temporarily relocating to be near him.

Along with hundreds of other TikTok users, we donated toward is GoFundMe to assist with helping him find a place to say.

Heart of Martha Effort Inc. is a nonprofit organization based in Tampa Bay, FL that provides basic needs and assistance to the local homeless community. This month, Masha Thrift Co. dedicated its #GivingTuesday store revenue along with a $ match to this organization. We were able to make a financial donation along with providing them with two shipments of used clothing.
December 2020 - Winter Clothing Drive
In December 2020, with the help of our co-working space, The Community Foundation Campus, we hosted a winter clothing drive and accepted donations of sweaters, jackets, gloves, hats and blankets to distribute to homeless persons in Tucson, Arizona in need of warm clothing during the winter months.
We were able to distribute those clothes to homeless individuals in one of our local parks.
